By connecting fingers, or pointing certain directions we direct energy and link up specific channels to generate a particular set of internal resonances. The hands are vitally important to the brain. There is an equal amount of cortical tissue dedicated to the hand as there is to the whole rest of the body. By engaging our hands, our breath, our bodies, our focus we awaken our inner sense of awareness and unify ourselves.

nerve endings: Nerve endings - what different sensations do we feel and why is it important?-----Neuropathy (nerve damage)---
The Quran states clearly that people will be given a “new skin” for the purpose of pain, thereby linking skin loss with the loss of nerve endings that cause pain.

Ecstatic Body Postures, felicitas goodman----
Get into trance: Felicitas Goodman----Ritual body postures found in prehistoric cave paintings and indigenous effigies have their origins with the hunter-gatherer tribes. The oldest posture discovered to date is believed to be approximately 32,000 years old. It was in the horticulturalist societies that followed, however, that the practice of these postures flourished.
Ecstatic Trance Postures ----
Our body is a “universal tool” for insight into the manifold realities we live in and for a direct experience into the living “information network” of consciousness.
Rhythmic stimulation of the human body combined with ritual body postures can produce a profound change in consciousness, enabling one to experience different areas of the alternate reality.
Khmer court dance basic hand gestures-----
The Meaning of Buddha’s Hand Gestures or Mudras-----HASTA MUDRAS, in attempting to trace the history of hasta mudras, I must first discuss the context in which these hand symbols became codified. This is the ancient dance that was originally practiced in Hindu temples as a pan Indian art form.
Why do we have five fingers, five toes, and five senses? It is due to the maha Prana dividing
itself five-fold upon entering this creation. The panca pranas are udana prana, prana prana,
samana prana, vyana prana, and apana prana. These five pranas are represented with each of the five fingers. The way the fingers connect with one another have the potential to increase the
prana flow in body/mind.
Effects of YogarPostures of Hand (Hasta Mudras) 1--
Hasta Mudra: Beneficial For Age Groups – Part 1---
Hasta mudras or “hand gestures” are psychic, emotional, devotional or aesthetic hand position that apply pressure on the different areas of the hands and fingers, and they have been used for many centuries throughout the entire world.
Hasta mudras are the most common and numerous of the categories of yogic mudras. The human hand contains about 100,000 nerves and each fingertip has about 3,000 (!) nerve receptors, just under the surface of the skin. In the brain the hand takes up a very large proportion of the brain's cortex, and each area of the hand is linked to a different part of the brain. When we apply pressure to the fingers and hands, we stimulate related brain areas. So we use hasta mudras to activate pressure points, give messages to the body-mind energy system
and change brain patterns.
